Dear California Homeowner,

As one of the sunniest states in the country, there is no better place to purchase a solar battery than California and no better time than now.

The California rebate program deadline is around July 10th, and the funds are almost being allocated. So it’s the right time to switch to solar energy and take control of your energy production and stop paying high bills.

Tesla Powerwall when combined with a home solar system is qualified for both the Federal solar tax incentive, also known as the Investment tax credit (ITC) and SGIP.

So the battery will be a great addition to your existing solar PV system.

Moreover, climate changes and higher chances of wildfires during this season that will cause more frequent outages is another reason why solar energy consumption is important. Energy storage systems are a great way to avoid power shutoffs.

There are 2 types of Rebates: Resilience Program and Standard Rebate.

The Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) wildfire budget is funding the equity Resiliency incentive. The goal of the incentive is to install more solar energy storage systems in high-risk fire locations (in low-income communities). These areas can stay without power from a few hours to a few days in case of a wildfire risk.

So, to be qualified for Resilience program your house needs to be at fire zone and you should have a medical subscription (e.g. eligible for the equity budget; a medical baseline customer; a customer that has notified of serious illness or condition that could become life-threatening if electricity is disconnected) and one of the mentioned qualified medical devices at your house:

  • Aerosol Tent
  • Air Mattress/Hospital Bed
  • Apnea Monitor
  • Breather Machine (IPPB)
  • Compressor / Concentrator
  • Dialysis Machine
  • Electronic Nerve Stimulator
  • Electrostatic Nebulizer
  • Hemodialysis Machine
  • Infusion Pump
  • Inhalation Pulmonary Pressure
  • Iron Lung
  • Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD)
  • Motorized Wheelchair/Scooter
  • Oxygen Generator
  • Pressure Pad
  • Pressure Pump
  • Pulse Oximeter/Monitor
  • Respirator (all types)
  • Suction Machine
  • The Vest/Airway Clearance System
  • Total Artificial Heart (TAH-t)
  • Ultrasonic Nebulizer

The program offers a rebate of $1 per watt-hour of battery storage installed. A Powerwall battery holds 13.5 kilowatt hours (kWh).

With Resilience Program, rebate is:

  • $13,500 for 1 battery,
  • $26,400 for 2 batteries,
  • $39,600 for 3 batteries.

With Standard rebate program, rebate is:

  • $2,900 for 1 battery,
  • $5,800 for 2 batteries,
  • $8,700 for 3 batteries.

Visit SGIP Program Metrics to check the budget allocation and see how much funding is currently available.

You can find the detailed pricing of Tesla battery installation below. The batteries are available and ready to be installed.

For 1 battery, the total cost includes full installation and the additional fees including engineering, permitting and processing your SGIP rebate paperwork.

Your Net cost will be $13,500 – $3,510 (FTC) – $2,900 (SGIP Rebate) = $7,090.

If you get the battery from Tesla, the cost will be over $7,400 and will not include permit installation and turnkey solution.

For 2 batteries, the total cost includes full installation and the additional fees including engineering, permitting and processing your SGIP rebate paperwork.

Your net cost will be $18,130 – $5,800 = $12,330.
