Bee Canyon Park is an extension of O’Melveny Park
This urban oasis is home to several large parks and many small ones. The largest, Griffith Park, straddles the Hollywood Hills on the eastern side. The Hansen and Sepulveda dams have created two large recreation areas. The park protects the upper Bee Canyon.
It was once a very rural area. However, after the Los Angeles-Owens Valley aqueduct was built in 1915, the region became part of Los Angeles. In the following years, Los Angeles continued to consolidate its territory in the San Fernando Valley. In 1923, the city also annexed Laurel Canyon and Lankershim. In total, the Los Angeles portion of the San Fernando Valley expanded from 169 square miles to 224 square miles. In addition, five cities were incorporated in the area.

However, a foundation formed to save the grove is trying to save the remaining 4.6 acres.
The park also features hiking and equestrian trails. The grove is the last resting place for migrating birds. The grove was once a cattle ranch owned by C.J. Bothwell, and it costs the owner $30,000 per month to maintain it. However, Borstein Enterprises, based in Sawtell, has agreed to donate the grove to the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. In return, the organization will take care of the trees. It is near Mission Point
Bee Canyon Park is located just north of Mission Point, the highest point in San Fernando, California. Visitors can enjoy the panoramic views of the city and San Fernando Valley from this mountain. The park also features a small memorial to physician Mario De Campos, who loved the mountains in the area.
The Park has a hiking trail that winds its way through the mountains. It is about 4 1/2 miles round trip and has a 1,400-foot elevation gain. At the end of the hike, you can view Mission Point, 2,771 feet above sea level.
