Anheuser-Busch constructed a brewery at Van Nuys

The Anheuser-Busch Company started building breweries throughout Southern California after World War II. It opened a brewery at Van Nuys in 1954. It was located next to Busch Gardens in San Fernando Valley, a $4 million theme park. The park’s tropical theme was reflected in its eponymous title. It featured a monorail, which ran through the park’s 17-acres.

In June 1954, the brewery was opened. A ceremony to mark the occasion was held in a Rothskeller, a German beer-brewing cellar. The term was popularized in the United States by German immigrants after World War II. It is reminiscent of the cellar bars that can be found in German towns. They wanted to reduce environmental impact by using water-efficient production methods. The brewery also helped to boost employment in the local construction industry.

Tourists loved the brewery, which attracted thousands each year. Busch Gardens was home to a bird

park as well as lager and ale production. It was located on Roscoe Street, and the 405 in Van Nuys.
